“Working the core” is all the rage right now. But how do we incorporate core work into a class where there is not specific time for it? And how do we cue it if we don’t have a Pilates background? My guest, Trish Muse and I discuss how to work the core, with good effective cueing, in classes that are not core specific. Trish‘s experience as a Physical Therapist (she is working on her Doctorate), group fitness and Pilates instructor really help her describe how to do this. You can learn more about Trish at www.bodyproductions.com. Enjoy!

You know that guy that is always running on the treadmill, or the one that is in the weight room every day? Wouldn’t it be fun to pull him into your class for once? Chris Freytag and I talk about getting the “athletic minded extroverts” into our classes. By allowing our participants the freedom to move without paying attention to choreography, we can attract those that would never ever consider coming to a “dance class”. Chris calls it organized chaos. Join us as we talk about the athletically inspired class and how to execute it. You can learn more about Chris at her website: chrisfreytag.com and please contact me: amyjo@groupfitnessradio.com. I would love to hear from you!

I had the chance to sit down in Jamaica and talk with David Mesirow about his new product launch, Beaming. (It was definitely my favorite interview atmosphere!) David wanted to present the fitness industry with something new and exciting, but also “all encompassing”. Beaming takes into account all aspects of health and is done barefoot, in a dark room, with candles and soft music. David describes not only the theory behind Beaming, but how and why he came up with the concept. Enjoy!
